School Build for Pour Khoeun Village in Preah Vihear Province, Northern Cambodia
Mission Direct continues to partner with Serve Cambodia and the Fellowship of Hope (FOH) Church network in Cambodia, but our focus is moving from Phnom Penh to a remote rural community in the northern province of Preah Vihear. We are seeking volunteers to join two building teams to help our partners build a school for a village where there is currently no school and the children have not been educated. Our partners Mr Meng Oum and his wife Sreylin, along with their young daughter Emma, have made the sacrificial move to Preah Vihear to start an outdoor school for 60 village children. These children are currently taught at Mr Meng’s house, but need shelter from the sun and rain for their classes and our project is to raise funds and to build a two-classroom school and a small teacher’s office. Soil has already been moved to the site prior to the rainy season, to provide a firm base for the building and to prevent flooding in the future. This is an exciting new project which will benefit a particularly poor community.
Teachers are welcome to join the team but please remember the main project is to build. However, there may well be an opportunity to teach the local children and to provide some teacher training.
Volunteers will have the opportunity for rest and relaxation exploring the famous Angkor Wat temple complex near Siem Reap and other attractions in Preah Vihear province such as the Tbeng Meanchey Mountain.
The teams in Cambodia have been doing an incredible job. Here are a few of the most recent stories and stats from the projects...
