Throughout February and March, teams 2 and 3 (including Alan McCormick) have progressed work at both current projects in Cambodia; Raising the floor level of homes previously built by MD at Happy Village to prevent continuous flooding and the building of a new classroom in the rural village of Makak. Team 4 – who have just arrived – will continue work at both locations.
Teams are working in the province of Takhmeo about 20 miles out of Phnom Penh at a school situated in a very rural area of the Province. This is the third school that Pastor Sara, the Head of Serve Cambodia, has partnered with Mission Direct to build. The school was originally started some years ago but was never completed when funding ran out. They now have over 30 children on the waiting list and an extra teacher already there, and so they are waiting patiently for the work to be completed!
The staff team and volunteers are dealing with very high temperatures (predicted to reach 40 degrees this week) as well as changes to accommodation after our hotel suddenly shut down! There is also a daily 4-5 hour power cut – but when people come together, much can be achieved!
