Zimbabwe needs you to volunteer

As the economic situation continues to deteriorate with rampant inflation and food shortages, the country is also facing its worst drought for over 40 years. It is predicted that half of Zimbabwe’s 16 million people face the threat of starvation.

It is almost two years since President Emmerson Mnangagwa came to power after the army deposed long-time president Robert Mugabe. The country has recently seen long periods of time without electricity, with many businesses opening overnight instead, when electricity is more readily available. Many people are turning to solar power and the installation of panels has mushroomed.

In times of such uncertainty, the people here need a beacon of hope and a sign of God’s love – they need you!

In 2020, we’ll be running three teams to the country. Team one is an early team, running 7th – 21st March – so if you have a heart to help a country in significant need, please join us.

Team two will include the Rewired volunteers – a team which normally runs in Zambia but in 2020 will help to install computers and laptops into our partner school in Mutare, Zimbabwe as well as supporting teachers and pupils by teaching the basics. This will help to provide children here with digital skills which they would not otherwise have – opening up many more employment opportunities for them once they leave school. You don’t need to be an IT whizz for this team – you just need to know the basics of office programmes such as word and excel and be able to help with installation.

Alternatively, could you help with funding to provide hardware – or donate any computers or laptops in good condition? Please get in touch if you can!
