This is a ground-breaking project to support a community living in one of the most deprived regions of Cambodia. Just 10 km from the Thailand border is a small, remote community of 300 people.
Despite its remoteness, the village has a makeshift school and a resident school teacher, who has been able to teach children to read and write in their Khmer language. The children are also learning English.
The local authority has allocated land for a school in the village to help them get out of the poverty trap. Expanding our partnership with Serve Cambodia (project in Phnom Penh), we will help to build a two-classroom school and to provide a clean water supply for the village. This promises to be an eye-opening trip where we will also build relationships with local people – many of whom have never met anyone outside their village.
We’ll travel to Siem Reap for a couple of day where you can visit the Killing Fields and learn about the genocide that took place in the 1970’s killing nearly a third of Cambodia’s population. We’ll also visit the Angkor Wat temple complex, which is the World’s largest collection of temples and designate by the United Nations as a World heritage site.
The teams in Cambodia Sisophon have been doing an incredible job. Here are a few of the most recent stories and stats from the projects...
