Helping to break the poverty trap in Korogocho: Working in one of the largest slums in Africa you will be helping to change a child’s future by building classrooms facilities to enable more children to get access to education.
Please note that the trip dates may vary a day either way due to flight availability.
The slums around Nairobi contain over half of the city's population. Korogocho slum comprises seven communities called villages - all squeezed into one square mile. In the mornings you will be working at Emmaus School, which is situated in a slum next to one of the world’s largest rubbish tips. The school has recently been renovated, but still has significant need with nursery children in a hot tin shack with a mud floor. You can help us to improve the conditions for these nursery children by building them a classroom.
In the afternoon we will go on community visits such as home-based visits with our health partners to support people living with HIV/AIDS. Or visit the sewing workshop where girls in the slum are taught practical and business skills to create a business making and selling clothes.
We can't take you to Kenya without going on safari - and not just any safari! Visit the Maasai Mara game park- one of the finest in the world - and experience awe-inspiring wildlife.
There's also the chance to get close (but not too close!) to the hippos on a boat trip.
The teams in Kenya Korogocho have been doing an incredible job. Here are a few of the most recent stories and stats from the projects...
