Moldova is one of the most vulnerable nations in Europe and poverty levels are high – especially in rural areas. When you visit here you take a step back in time, working in villages with roads dominated by geese and cows. Moldova has many challenges – one of which is its support and integration of children with special needs. We’re currently working with an organisation to help provide a day care centre for families with children who have special needs or disabilities.
Popular choice for youth teams; Groups can take over an advertised date or get in touch to discuss bespoke trips for 7, 10 or 14 days.
Please note that we will not be travelling to Moldova in 2022.
In previous years our teams supported Pilgrims International in Riscani, Northern Moldova where hey helped convert old industrial accommodation into dormitories for young girls at risk. Working with Pilgrims, they supported their work to protect young girls in Moldova from exploitation and trafficking, providing them with a safe house.
In 2019, we embarked on a new partnership, working with Ancora Salvării (translated as Salvation Anchor), a Christian non-profit organisation based in Bălți, aimed at helping children and young people in need - especially those with a disability or chronic illness - regardless of race, religion or nationality.
During your trip, teams will work alongside Ancora Salvării, supporting outreach activities, playing with children and visiting other community projects such as a home for the elderly and a children's centre.
Teams will also offer practical help to our partners; For example, we have previously helped to renovate a derelict building into a daycare centre for the community to help support the needs of the community that others don't support. The renovated house will provide a place of relaxation for the whole family, making quality time possible. Family members can also participate in church camp activities. Teams have also worked over the garden to provide a safe, enjoyable outdoor space for children with special needs and their families.
We will spend a day in Soroca and visit its famous Castle, as well as have a picnic by the river. For those who wish to climb the 600 steps to see the Candle, there will also be an opportunity to do so. If time permits, we will also visit the capital Chisinau which is a lively cosmopolitan city and/or Orhei, which houses a lovely monastery
Don’t be fooled by Moldova’s location in Europe; this is truly a cross-cultural experience to remember.
The teams in Moldova have been doing an incredible job. Here are a few of the most recent stories and stats from the projects...
houses restored fit for living
sobas (heating and cooking utility) installed
chickens delivered to disadvantaged familes
The contributions listed are a reduced amount, based on the assumption that Gift Aid will be declared.
Orientation days and reunion days are included to help you get the most from your trip.
