Moldova is one of the most vulnerable nations in Europe and poverty levels are high – especially in rural areas. When you visit here you take a step back in time, working in villages with roads dominated by geese and cows. Moldova is also a major source country for human trafficking and female exploitation. In 2018 and 2019 we’ll be working with a safe house for young girls at risk as well as supporting an orphanage.
Please note that the trip dates may vary a day either way due to flight availability.
This year we'll be joining Pilgrims International in Riscani, Northern Moldova where teams will help to convert old industrial accommodation into dormitories for young girls at risk. Working with Pilgrims, you'll be supporting their work to protect young girls in Moldova from exploitation and trafficking, providing them with a safe house.
In 2019, we'll continue to support Pilgrim's International, helping to run day camps at an orphanage as well as working with Ancora Salvării, a Christian non-profit organisation, where we'll renovate a derelict building into a daycare centre for the community - particularly supporting children with disabilities and chronic illness.
Afternoon: Support community projects, such as a play-scheme for children. You’ll also have the experience of visiting the MAD centre for disabled children.
Take a relaxing trip amongst the beautiful surroundings and historical places of Moldova. This will include optional excursions to Soroca (old castle with view over the river Prut), Saharna monastery with waterfall, Orhei Veche (Cave monastery) and Chișinău (Zoo, botanic garden, wine cave called “Mileștii mici” sau “Gricova”).
Don’t be fooled by Moldova’s location in Europe; this is truly a cross-cultural experience to remember.
The teams in Moldova have been doing an incredible job. Here are a few of the most recent stories and stats from the projects...
