Zambia Mission Trips 2022 | Mission Direct

Zambia

Safety and education for vulnerable children

We’ve worked in Lusaka for many years, previously building a safe house for street girls which now accommodates 40+ children. For many years, we have also supported schools here – many of which are found in the compounds in and around the city which receive little or no funding and struggle to provide facilities for full-time education for every child.

We partner with a number of different projects, all owned and run by the communities. Come and meet our friends in these wonderful communities – you’ll create relationships that will last a lifetime.

Please note that the trip dates may vary a day either way due to flight availability.

The Projects

The Project

Ask a Zambian child what they want and they will tell you: "I want to go to school." Education is the single most powerful tool to bring hope to the next generation. It reduces the number of displaced orphans and street children. It transforms young people into productive citizens: leaders in their families, churches, communities and nation.

The goal of the Zambian education system is that every child should have 9 years of good quality education, but over half a million children are not in school. Many church and community-based schools have been established for those who would otherwise be unable to obtain an education.

You’ll meet our local partners who work amongst the disadvantaged and marginalised people in Lusaka. Spend afternoons assisting the Footprints team to help reach street children, cuddle abandoned babies at House of Moses, visit Vision of Hope safe house - built by our teams - and hear the incredible life stories of some of the girls there, or spend the day at Chisomo, a drop-in centre for children from the street.

Rest and Relaxation

At the end of the trip we spend a couple of days in Livingstone, visit the magnificent Victoria Falls, cruise on the Zambezi and take a game-drive to see some of Africa’s amazing wildlife. PLEASE NOTE:- The Footprints Team rest and relaxation will be a day retreat at Lilya Lodge where we will enjoy the beautiful surroundings and refreshing pool, lovely food and the highlight of the day a visit to see orphaned baby elephants being bottle fed their lunch and playing in the mud baths.
