Safety and education for vulnerable children

We’ve worked in Lusaka for many years, previously building a safe house for street girls which now accommodates 40+ children. For many years, we have also supported schools here – many of which are found in the compounds in and around the city which receive little or no funding and struggle to provide facilities for full-time education for every child.

We partner with a number of different projects, all owned and run by the communities. Come and meet our friends in these wonderful communities – you’ll create relationships that will last a lifetime.

Please note that the trip dates may vary a day either way due to flight availability.

The Projects

You’ll meet our local partners who work amongst the disadvantaged and marginalised people in Lusaka. Spend afternoons assisting the Footprints team to help reach street children, cuddle abandoned babies at House of Moses, visit Vision of Hope safe house - built by our teams - and hear the incredible life stories of some of the girls there, or spend the day at Chisomo, a drop-in centre for children from the street.

We also spend a couple of hours each morning assisting local builders to continue our work with community schools in the shanty towns in and around Lusaka. Working to renovate existing – as well as build new – facilities to alleviate class numbers and enable more children to have access to education for generations to come in areas where many parents cannot afford school fees.

Children in these communities often get their only meal of the day by going to school. Many drop out of education after primary years due to a lack of space in secondary education; we’ll be working with our partners to expand space in secondary classrooms.

Rest and Relaxation

You will visit the world-renowned Victoria Falls and also take a sunset cruise down the Zambezi, in the footsteps of the great Dr Livingstone.
