We need your help to pay for a new home for this incredible family…
Sister Mercedes is a remarkable woman.
Fourteen years ago God gave her a passion to help abandoned children. This calling lead Sister Mercedes to leave the safety and comfort of the convent to start Nazareth House in the Dominican Republic, a children’s home for disabled children. It didn’t take long before Sister Mercedes began visiting hospitals to find children in need of her love and care. Sadly over the years she has found children abandoned on the steps of the home.
When a child enters Nazareth House they are not entering an institution – they are part of a family! A home where Sister Mercedes lives with her 15 children who have a variety of disabilities. They call her ‘mum’; they are a family built around the love of God.
Rebekah, one of our staff team members in the Dominican Republic, has put together a fantastic video that explains its history, what it is and how we can help.
I encourage you to watch it and find out why we are looking forward to building them a more suitable home in 2017. A home with:
The new Nazareth House will be a place to play, learn and live life to the full. Sister Mercedes is enabling these children to do just that; she has shown them that they are worth loving and that their lives, though difficult, are worth living.
