Please set up your own 2.6 Challenge fundraising page or donate to Mission Direct through the 2.6 Challenge web page at https://twopointsixchallenge.justgiving.com – every donation will be increased in value due to The 2.6 Challenge match funding approach.
It has been estimated that charities will lose £4 billion due to the current Covid-19 crisis, due in part to an inability to run some of the services that charities organise, and also because many of the mass participation fundraising events have been cancelled.
One of these was the London Marathon, which was meant to have taken place on the 26th April. They have teamed up with other organisations to create a nationwide mass participation fundraising week from 26 April until 3rd May. It is being called The 2.6 Challenge, and is encouraging people to organise their own sponsored fundraising events along the themes of 2.6 or 26. Fundraisers can do things like run 2.6 miles or hop 26 times on one leg.
In addition to the funds raised by individuals, the 2.6 Challenge organisers have also created a central pot of money that will be distributed to each charity that participates, in proportion to the amount the was raised for them. This will mean that each £1 donation for Mission Direct will be increased in value.
This will be an amazing opportunity for charities to fundraise under the umbrella of a nationally advertised campaign and to benefit from the expected groundswell of goodwill that this will generate.
