Atutur Child Development Centre
ACDC is run by Pentecostal Assemblies of God and is supported by Compassion International. It serves around 300 orphans and vulnerable children in the Atutur area. The project helps to support their practical needs with education, healthcare and clothing as well as providing moral and spiritual support. The children meet on Saturdays in term time and other days in the holiday when they join in craft activities and games, as well as receiving teaching and worship.
Working with the local communities, our partners and the community identify individuals or families that have particular problems and need assistance. In past years each Mission Direct team has been involved in the construction of a village home in some way. So far, in the last two years, eight homes have been improved, and more before that. The homes are constructed of mud brick walls and a wood and thatch roof. The aim is to bring people back up to the level of the community rather than to lift them above it.
There will usually be children around, so the community can often be blessed with small toys and a gift of food. Other support might consist of mattresses and bedding or cooking utensils, but there may be other ways to bless them which become apparent in each case.
