We’ve worked in Lusaka for many years, previously building a safe house for street girls which now accommodates 40+ children. For many years, we have also supported schools here – many of which are found in the compounds in and around the city which receive little or no funding and struggle to provide facilities for full-time education for every child.
We partner with a number of different projects, all owned and run by the communities. Come and meet our friends in these wonderful communities – you’ll create relationships that will last a lifetime.
Please note that the trip dates may vary a day either way due to flight availability.
Investing in Education in Zambia
Mission Direct continues its commitment to supporting education across Zambia, working alongside a range of local schools and community partners to help create environments where children can learn, grow and build a better future.
For many children, the answer to what they want most is still simple: education. It remains one of the most powerful pathways out of poverty and a daily hope for families across the communities we serve. Our work in Zambia reflects this reality, coming alongside schools that are doing their best with limited resources but a strong commitment to their students.
In 2027, teams will serve in a variety of school settings depending on local need, supporting practical improvement projects such as classroom refurbishment, repairs, and upgrades to school facilities identified by local partners. Each project is shaped on the ground, ensuring the work responds to real needs rather than assumptions.
Alongside the practical work, team members will spend time in schools, building relationships with students and staff and gaining a deeper understanding of everyday life in different communities. These moments of connection are often just as lasting as the buildings themselves.
At the end of our trip, we spend a few days in Livingstone - home of the Victoria Falls, one of the natural wonders of the world. We also encounter local wildlife on a safari and enjoy a sunset cruise on the Zambezi.
The teams in Zambia have been doing an incredible job. Here are a few of the most recent stories and stats from the projects...
street girls housed in new safe house
classrooms completed for 5 compound schools
classrooms renovated
The contributions listed are a reduced amount, based on the assumption that Gift Aid will be declared.
