Dominican Republic Mission Trips 2020 & 2021 | Mission Direct

Dominican Republic

A new home for a family in need

A very popular tourist destination, with white sandy beaches and turquoise waters. Yet, many families here live in isolated, impoverished rural villages, making it difficult to get access to full-time education, employment and adequate housing. 2020 marks something new for our work in the Dominican Republic as we form a new partnership with the Samaritan Foundation, helping to build a family a new home and handing it over to them at the end of your trip.

Please note that the trip dates may vary a day either way due to flight availability.

The Projects

The Samaritan Foundation started in 1988 and has transformed the landscape in Sosua, improving the lives of many families. They have built 14 villages, over 1,800 homes, 8 schools, 6 medical clinics and 12 churches.

We will be working with The Samaritan Foundation to help build two homes at 'Rio De Vida' - a brand new village being built 20 minutes from our hotel in Sosua, which when complete will provide homes for 144 families. Our teams will be helping to paint and prepare a new home to hand over to a family at the end of their trip. They will also help local builders for a few days to build a new home which will be completed by later teams.

We will also be visiting and assisting at other established local communities, schools, and a rehab centre and will visit English speaking churches. There is already an established church on in the new village to welcome all the new families that will move in, which we will visit.

Rest and Relaxation

As well as enjoying the beautiful white beaches and warm sea by your hotel – a visit to Rudy’s has something for everyone. From a walk through the beautiful garden filled with tropical fruits, to taking a lazy river boat ride; you’ll then end your visit with an amazing lunch prepared with ingredients from Rudy’s ecology garden.
