Dominican Republic Mission Trips 2023 | Mission Direct

Dominican Republic

Providing safe places to play

The Dominican Republic is a beautiful country with wonderful sandy beaches, vegetation, and friendly people. During your two-week trip you will have the unique opportunity to see the real Dominican Republic – not just the view that the tourists see of the beaches and palm trees. Sadly, life for many people involves serious poverty and hardship.

During your trip, you get the opportunity to help improve the lives of many people here. It is a varied and exciting program, with something for everyone.

Please note that the trip dates may vary a day either way due to flight availability.

The Projects

2023 brings an incredible opportunity to join us working with Claire at Go MAD, and with Enson and his small community of Severet, to build a playground and basketball court for the local children and youth. Go MAD exists to create opportunities and bring hope to those living in financial poverty in the Dominican Republic. They work in 6 communities in the North Coast area, providing free school transport, English classes, weekly medical clinics in each community, youth discipleship, preschools and much more!

Severet is a rural community of around 120 families. Mission Direct first worked in this beautiful community in 2016 when we had the opportunity to bring running water to the village! Since then, MD have worked with Go MAD to add a classroom to the village school too. In 2023 we are excited to return to Severet and bless the community with a playground for the children and a basketball court for the youth (& adults!!)

Playgrounds are great spaces for social development, building stronger community friendships, Playgrounds are safe spaces where kids develop crucial physical, social, emotional, and imaginative skills necessary to gain self-confidence, improve coordination, and advance critical thinking capabilities.

We will also be visiting and assisting at other established local communities, schools, and a rehab centre and will visit English speaking churches. There is already an established church on in the new village to welcome all the new families that will move in, which we will visit.

Rest and Relaxation

As well as enjoying the beautiful white beaches and warm sea by your hotel – a visit to Rudy’s has something for everyone. From a walk through the beautiful garden filled with tropical fruits, to taking a lazy river boat ride; you’ll then end your visit with an amazing lunch prepared with ingredients from Rudy’s ecology garden.
