Zimbabwe can be described as a country of contrasts; a land of outstanding natural beauty and a people of faith, yet a nation in need of support. The infrastructure here hasn’t kept pace with the growing population, leaving children in overcrowded classrooms, attending school in shifts, or not going at all. Come and help us make education accessible for the children of Bulawayo.
Zimbabwe is a beautiful country to visit, especially the remarkably spacious second city of Bulawayo and the Matopos National Park. Lying south of Bulawayo, the Matobo Hills (or Matopos) consist of a broken and ancient, rocky landscape with a unique natural and social heritage. It has one of the highest concentrations of prehistoric rock paintings in Southern Africa. In these beautiful settings you will meet people who are very poor which you may find distressing at first, but they are amazingly positive, happy and hospitable in spite of their circumstances. You will become their lifelong friends!
Please note that the trip dates may vary a day either way due to flight availability.
Supporting Communities in Zimbabwe
Mission Direct continues its commitment to serving communities in Zimbabwe, working alongside local partners to support practical projects that bring dignity, opportunity and long-term benefit.
In 2027, teams will serve where the need is greatest, contributing to community-led initiatives that may include school improvements, refurbishment work and the development of essential facilities that support daily life. Each placement is shaped by local priorities, ensuring that the work strengthens what is already happening within the community rather than replacing it.
Alongside the practical work, team members will spend time with local schools, churches and community groups, building relationships and gaining a deeper understanding of life in Zimbabwe. These shared moments often leave a lasting impression on both those who serve and those they meet.
This is hands-on service that aims to support local leadership, strengthen communities and leave something meaningful behind long after the team has returned home.
The teams in Zimbabwe have been doing an incredible job. Here are a few of the most recent stories and stats from the projects...
classrooms built at Joshua Dhube School
of shoes given to AIDS-orphaned children
computers installed into schools
Orientation days and reunion days are included to help you get the most from your trip.
